Danny Scheie

Danny Scheie has appeared in Amy Freed's Restoration Comedy (Old Globe, Calshakes), You Nero (Arena Stage, Berkeley Rep, South Coast Rep) The Monster Builder (Aurora, SCR) and Shrew! (aslo SCR) the latter two directed by Art Manke, for whom he also appeared in Noel Coward's Star Quality at the Pasadena Playhouse, and most recently as Dvornichek in Stoppard's Rough Crossing in Santa Cruz. 

During thirteen seasons at Shakespeare Santa Cruz (three as Artistic Director) he played Rosencrantz (Stoppard and Shakespeare) Mozart in Amadeus, and Mistress Quickly among others. In another thirteen seasons at California Shakespeare Theater he played Bottom, Puck, Dogberry, Gremio, the Dromios and Richard III among many others.

He played both Antipholi at A Noise Within in LA and Grumio at the Folger in DC.  His first Shakespeare role was Gremio at Libertyville High School in Illinois.   He directed Bryan Cranston as Christopher Sly in 1993.  He has a PhD from Cal Berkeley and wrote his dissertation on queer Shakespeare.
